INSTALLATION AND TECHNICAL GUIDE
Installation Guide
This guide outlines the key steps for preparing, pressing and inspecting Navigator pressfit fittings to support correct installation and
joint integrity. Always use the correct tools and compatible materials. For technical support, contact technical@navigatormsl.com
Step 1 – Cutting the tube
Step 4 – Pressing the fitting
Cut the tube square and cleanly to the
required length.
Using the correct size M-profile press
jaws, position the jaws square and
perpendicular to the tube.
Press the fitting into place, ensuring the
tube aligns with the previously marked
insertion depth to confirm full insertion.
Step 2 – Deburring & cleaning
Using a suitable deburring tool, clean
and deburr the cut end of the tube.
Ensure the cut end is smooth and free
from burrs, dirt or debris.
Step 5 – Press confirmation
Once the fitting has been correctly
pressed, you may hear a small
snap as the press identification ring
detaches from the fitting and falls
away.
Step 3 – O-ring check & tube
insertion
The removal of the identification ring
clearly indicates that the fitting has
been pressed to the correct press
force requirements and is ready for
use.
Check that the O-ring is present, clean
and free from damage.
Insert the cut tube fully into the fitting until
it reaches the tube stop, then mark the
tube to confirm full insertion.
Compatibility Table – Copper Fittings
Minimum Fitting
Distances
This compatibility table applies only to copper press fittings.
Stainless steel press fittings must be used only with compatible stainless steel tube.
To ensure correct press jaw operation and joint integrity, a
minimum clearance must be maintained between fittings.
Failure to observe these distances may prevent correct
pressing and compromise installation quality.

Mixed-metal installations Mixed-metal installations (e.g. copper to stainless steel) are not recommended
and should be avoided where possible, due to the risk of galvanic corrosion occurring. Where mixed materials are
unavoidable, appropriate precautions must be taken in line with current industry guidance.
